B) RESEARCH INTERESTS AND CURRENT PROJECTS
B) Research Interests and Current Projects
My main avenues of research have been the ecotoxicology of nanomaterials and of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). My core interest is in how natural stressors combine with anthropogenic stressors to affect aquatic systems. Recent work includes: 1) photo-enhanced toxicity of Deepwater Horizon spill oil to native Gulf of Mexico species, 2) photo-enhanced toxicity of nano titanium dioxide to daphnia, 3) the effects of natural organic matter and multi-walled carbon nanotubes on daphnia.
In Dr. Basu’s lab I am studying the effects of nanomaterial components in paints to aquatic biota.
